Haley Snyder, a chemical engineer with a passion for the outdoors, has faced many challenges head-on during college—from academic struggles to bear encounters.

On March 26, 2024, the University of Tennessee launched its own chapter of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE).


Jonathan Coote graduated from the CBE PhD program in December 2022. Currently, he is a postdoctoral associate at the University of Minnesota.


Travis Laws(’22) is a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering PhD graduate. He is a current senior chemist specializing in marine coatings at Sherwin Williams.


Chemical engineering grad student Mahshid Mokhtarnejad won the Graduate Research Mentor Award at the Faculty Research Mentor Award recognition session at EURëCA.


Chemical engineering junior Mariana Milano-Benitez won the third place research award among TCE students at EURëCA.


PhD candidate Nathan Bryant’s research earned him a fellowship with the National Research Council Research Associate Program.


Several students of The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering received awards at The 2023 Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement.
