Named in honor of Frank Tiller, a founding member of the AFS and internationally acclaimed as the “Father of Modern Filtration Theory,” the award recognizes individuals for outstanding lifetime scientific and engineering achievements in the technology of fluid-particle separation. Advincula’s contributions are in new materials, 3D printing of membranes, and smart surfaces for separation.

Advincula was honored during an awards presentation at FILTCON26, which took place May 12–15 in Pittsburgh.

“I am very honored to receive the Frank Tiller Award from AFS, which is a hallmark and inflection point for research and mentoring in separations science and engineering,” Advincula said. “I am very thankful for AFS and what it represents to the many members in industry and academia. I am most thankful to my former and current group members for their dedication and contributions. My position at both ORNL and UT gives me this unique platform to scale both science and mentoring.”
